Volunteer Writer & Social Media Manager

RPG Research currently has an opening for a Volunteer Writer and Social Media Manager. We are looking for someone that is passionate about writing, improving our organization's brand through social media, and excited about what we are doing as an organization.

Position Summary

The Volunteer Writer & Social Media Manager will write our monthly newsletter, update our news and/or blog sections of our site periodically, review and fix "web copy" on our website(s), write and post announcements about our video and other media releases, and post occasional updates through our social media accounts.


This volunteer position typically required between 3-10 hours per week, or about 10-20 hours per month depending on your skills and efficiency.

  • Write monthly newsletter, typically 2-3 hours. Post in our news section , send to opt-in email subscribers, and post link to social media.
  • Post occasional news/blog announcements on website 1-3 times per week. Typically around 15-60 minutes per week.
  • Post announcements about latest video or other media releases to our Patreon and public social media sites. Typically around 15-60 minutes per week.
  • Review and fix "web copy" on our various websites. Typically about 1-2 hours per week.
  • Attend at least one administrative/training session per week (1-3 hours).


Though our headquarters is located in Spokane, WA, this position can be 100% remote work.


The Volunteer Writer and Social Media Manager will be responsible for the improvement upkeep of our website's web copy, our monthly newsletters, some of our blog/news announcements, and our social media presence. Our primary website is: https://www.rpgresearch.com


Strong English writing skills, grammar, vocabulary, etc.

Writing samples for:

  • Web copy
  • Newsletter
  • Organizational Social Media Postings
  • Organizational News/Blog Postings

Strong organizational skills.

Strong writing skills.

Strong social media skills. A candidate with social media skills communicates with the public through platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, encouraging users to create and share content online and builds a brand's reputation by analyzing data to understand its audience and their interests.

Background, training, experience, with Internet writing for community or business entities. It is okay if you are still a student.

At least 1 year experience with business and/or community based social media (personal social media experience does NOT count).

At least 1 year experience wriging for web-based news or blog site.

At least 6 months experience with all of the social media organizations we use (personal or otherwise):

Advanced training, certification, or degree in writing or related fields.

  • 3 years experience with business and/or community based social media (personal social media experience does NOT count).
  • 3 years experience writing for web-based news or blog site.
  • 3 years experience with the above listed social media platforms.
