We have a great volunteer opportunity in the Spokane, Washington area, REMOTE WORK IS OPTIONAL BUT AVAILABLE.

Minimum 6 month commitment.

Most of the work can be done remotely, so you do NOT have to be located in Spokane, but we do prefer locals.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 3 hours a week required, expected maximum 10 hours per week.
  • Good typist/computer savvy
  • 6 month commitment minimum, longer preferred
  • Microsoft Office proficiency and data entry accuracy.
  • High energy and excellent communication skills are a MUST.
  • Will professionally and politely answer emails, occasionally make outbound calls in response to voicemails or email.
  • Will work primarily with President, Vice-president, and Volunteer Coordinator, but to some extent over 50 volunteer staff.
  • Strong English skills a bonus, though we can work applicants using Deaf/Hard of Hearing using American Sign Language (ASL).

You will get hands-on experience with international global staff and community. We have staff across North America, South America, Europe, and the Middle-east.

Description

Reporting to the President, the administrative assistant will perform a range of administrative and office support functions for RPG Research to facilitate the efficient operation of the organization.
 
The administrative assistant will directly contribute to increasing RPG Research’s capacity to help improve lives through our global non-profit research and community human services programs using music, therapeutic recreation, and role-playing games for populations ranging from 2 years old to 100+, and many special needs populations.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

The administrative assistant will:
  • Handle incoming email and voicemail, providing prompt responses and forwarding to appropriate staff member where necessary.
  • Perform general clerical duties including photocopying, fax and mailing.
  • Handle requests for information and data and follow up with appropriate staff member.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments and travel arrangements for staff members.
  • Manage office supply inventories and coordinate maintenance of office equipment.
  • Assist the President, Vice-president, & Volunteer Coordinator in the management and administration of related contracts and project designations.
  • Ensure staff are notified in a timely manner of upcoming deadlines.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of job descriptions and evaluations.
  • Assist with volunteer and outreach coordination as required.

Good interpersonal skills.
Works well independently and as part of a team.
Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and manage multiple deadlines.
Ability to problem-solve in a fast paced work environment.
Prefer LibreOffice, but acceptable substitute knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Proficient and extensive experience with Google Calendar and Google Docs being used in groups/offices.
 

Time Period

This position requires a minimum 6 month commitment for 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Specific days can be negotiated as long as they are distributed throughout the week.
Very flexible schedule for an average of 6 hours per week, with possibility of some evening and weekend hours to support board meetings and special events.
