For those media interested in summarized information about the RPG Research Project, this page is to help you get started.

The RPG Research Project

Short version: The RPG Research Project is a volunteer-run, website and loose group of individuals and organizations, studying the effects of all forms of role-playing games, and their potential uses, and using role-playing games to help people improve the quality of their lives, especially those needing special accommodations.

The RPG Research Project (http://rpgresearch.com), founded in 2004, is a not-for-profit loose group of volunteers (not a 501(c)3 at this point, though we are looking at various non-profit formation options in the near future).

Created by project founder, Hawke Robinson, the website is an international community-based research repository service, from anyone studying the effects of role-playing games in all formats, and their potential uses to achieve entertainment, professional, educational, and therapeutic goals.

It is also a portal of volunteers working to further this research and how to apply the use of RPGs to achieve entertainment, professional, educational, and therapeutic goals for participants.

We volunteer all over the world providing RPGs to people, learning through the doing, and also offer peer training to each other to grow the body of knowledge and training.

The first threads of research for the project founder began in 1985, and the public repository of research information has been available to the public online since 2004. We are currently just a loose group of volunteers, but we are looking at possible options to become a formally organized non-profit organization of some kind. A 501(c)3 is currently beyond our means, although if you help by supporting us through our Patreon Page: http://www.patreon.com/rpgresearch then we could achieve that sooner.
